🚔 Community Update | Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre |
||
|
Following multiple reports from residents, businesses and security staff regarding antisocial behaviour involving e-scooters and electric bikes, I conducted a high-visibility patrol at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre today alongside proactive CCTV enquiries. During patrol, I identified a juvenile riding an e-scooter in an antisocial and dangerous manner, including performing wheelies in a busy public area used by shoppers and families. 🛴 The e-scooter was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. The rider was stopped and spoken to regarding the manner of riding and the legislation surrounding e-scooters. Unfortunately, the juvenile became confrontational during the seizure process and was subsequently arrested for Assault on an Emergency Worker.
✅ One e-scooter seized ✅ Positive action taken ✅ Public safety prioritised ✅ Reports acted upon I want to reassure residents that your local Beat Officer is actively listening to your concerns and taking action. We are committed to making Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre a safe place for everyone to visit, shop and work.
⚠️ Important message for parents and guardians Many young people are unaware that privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be ridden in public places such as: • Shopping centres • Pavements • Roads • Car parks • Public parks and open spaces
To be used lawfully on public land, vehicles require the appropriate insurance and legal entitlement. Failure to comply can result in the e-scooter being seized and further police action being taken.
🚫 We will not tolerate antisocial behaviour. 🚫 We will not tolerate dangerous riding that puts members of the public at risk. 🚫 We will not tolerate assaults on police officers or any emergency worker carrying out their duties.
Thank you to everyone who continues to report concerns and support our work. Your information helps us target problem areas and take positive action to keep our community safe. 📸 E-scooter seized today: 👇🛴🚔
